Sophomore year of high school, my best friend forced me to audition for the school play. I wanted to play basketball, not pretend...or so I thought. When I saw my name on a cast list for the first time, I knew I would be a theatre kid for life. Since that first audition, I have had the honor to work professionally in Alabama, New York, Florida, Mississippi, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Chicago.
Let's create something.
I am the Literary Manager for Underscore Theatre Company in Chicago, IL and a freelance director. Recently, I have worked with the American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University, 2nd Story, and the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival, where I was awarded Best Direction for the 2020 festival.
This past winter, Whitney Rhodes and I co-produced a virtual workshop through Underscore Theatre called Underscore Develops. We selected three, mostly finished new musicals, then hired professional actors, directors and music directors to workshop them. The teams, Whitney, and myself worked with the writers to develop a stronger book and score. It was one of the most educational and rewarding experiences of my professional career.
I graduated with honors from The University of Alabama in 2014 with an Undergraduate Degree in Musical Theatre, and minor in Communication Studies. During the summer of 2011, I studied at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. In the spring of 2013, my first ever directing proposal was accepted by the student run production company. It was my first experience directing a full length production, and felt like falling in love with theatre all over again.
